Learning Dutch through play (4 – 9 years) - Practising Dutch - Theme: Kiki & Olaf

A reader from the De Horizon non-profit-making organisation uses a kamishibai (Japanese story-book theatre) to tell a story in simple Dutch. Listening to a story is great and it allows you to fantasise and dream about the story and the characters.

The story of Kiki & Olaf

Her name is Katarina Marie Françoise Ella de Bieberstein, but everyone calls her Kiki. She loves letters and learning to read. Her little friend Olaf, the bookworm, is helping her.

This is the subject of the Kiki & Olaf read-aloud book, written by the actress Sara Pieters. The book is based on her two theatrical productions for children. Sara will be reading the story aloud and giving a live performance of the songs. A must-attend event!

The story is followed by an opportunity for the children and their parents to play simple entertaining games in Dutch. Even if you still do not understand or speak Dutch very well, you are still welcome to join us.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
